On the second day of the movie's release, a movie buff like me ending up in the theater to watch the yash raj film- lagga chunari mein daag. Movie starts with benaras- city of ganga maiya. An almost loser father- Anupam kher, struggling for bread mother-Jaya bacchan, a caring elder daughter who sacrifices her studies for younger sister- Rani mukherjee, a carefree younger sister-Konkanna sen, a property dispute, feud in family. All bollywood masalas- the girls goes for work to mumbai....ended up as high society escort. But one thing unique about this movie is the end-- family support
One emotion that truely comes out is sisterly love- which binds you through the film. Film really understands the relation between sisters. The elder sister's love and responsibility for younger one. The younger sister's looking up to elder sister.
i.e a perfect Indian family setting. One which we all can relate to. Film is very true to it's subject, characters and settings.
Film has a potential to make you cry and laugh at various intervals.
P.S Watch this film with a hankerchief and shoulder to cry on.
